About Born With Teeth

Liz Duffy Adams' play, Born with Teeth, makes its West End debut at Wyndham's Theatre. Book Born with Teeth tickets on London Theatre.

Born with Teeth is a play that asks the question: what would happen if Christopher Marlowe and William Shakespeare collaborated? Set in the back of the pub amid an oppressive police state, two of the greatest writers of their time attempt to collaborate on a historical play while bickering, flirting, and trying to outwit one another.

Starring in this black comedy is Ncuti Gatwa (BBC's Doctor Who, Sex Education) as Kit Marlowe and Edward Bluemel (Killing Eve, My Lady Jane) as Will Shakespeare.

Born with Teeth in London boasts an excellent creative team, including RSC Co-Artistic Director and two-time Olivier Award winner Daniel Evans as director, Joanna Scotcher (Titus Andronicus) as set and costume designer, and Neil Austin (Tammy Faye) as lighting designer.

Prior to coming to the London stage, Born with Teeth premiered at Alley Theatre in Houston, Texas, in 2022, and then it moved to the Guthrie Theatre, Asolo Repertory Theatre, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The production was awarded the Edgerton Foundation New Play Award in 2021 and also won Best Play/Production, Best New Play, and Best Actor at the 2022 Houston Theatre Awards.

As the Broadway World review said, "We spend ninety minutes watching a game between the best writers of their time. The stakes range from who can be the most clever to life and death. For a play that spends all its time on two characters in one location, it did a remarkable job presenting an ever-unfolding path of twists and turns."
