About The Sicilian Vespers - Royal Ballet and Opera

Revolutionary spirit meets bloodthirsty tragedy in this spectacular grand opera.

Hélène is seeking revenge for her brother's execution by the French. Her lover, Henri, is torn between his Sicilian roots and his loyalty to the French governor. As the young couple's love is tested, the Sicilians plot a rebellion...

Based on a real historical uprising, Verdi’s opera dramatises the timeless themes of oppression and resistance. This production sets the enthralling tale of loyalty and revenge against the backdrop of opulent 19th-century Paris, bringing together monumental set pieces and an all-star cast.
