About Elf The Musical

Following its smash hit Broadway run last year, Elf The Musical returns to the London stage at Aldwych Theatre. Book Elf The Musical tickets on London Theatre.

Based on the 2003 Christmas classic film of the same name starring Will Ferrell, this dazzling musical comedy is filled with Christmas cheer. The production tells the story of Buddy, a human raised by elves who is determined to go to New York City to find his father and maybe even help save Christmas along the way. Filled with laughter and catchy tunes from “World’s Greatest Dad” to “Christmastown,” and “Nobody Cares About Santa,” this laugh-out-loud production is a holiday favourite for all ages.

Elf The Musical stars real-life couple Joel Montague (Hamilton) and Carrie Hope Fletcher (Calamity Jane). The exceptional cast also includes Rosanna Hyland, Martyn Ellis, and Aled Jones MBE.

Elf The Musical in London features an excellent creative team, including director Philip Wm. McKinley, choreographer Liam Steel, set and costume designer Tim Goodchild, lighting designer Patrick Woodroffe, video designer Ian William Galloway, wigs and hair designer Sam Cox, musical director Matthew J Loughran, orchestrations by Doug Besterman, dance arrangements by David Chase, and music supervision/additional arrangements and orchestrations by Alan Williams.

This musical premiered on Broadway in 2010, and it’s been an audience favourite since. It was revived on Broadway in 2012 and 2024 and was staged in the West End in 2015, 2022, and 2023.

The musical book is by Bob Martin and Thomas Meehan, the music is by Matthew Skylar, and the lyrics are by Chad Beguelin.

In 2010, Bob Martin discussed the process of creating this now beloved musical. “It’s a homage to the original, but it winds up being different at the same time…If you do a direct translation of a film, then, ironically, you’re going to disappoint the people who love it the most.”

See it if You want to experience some pure Christmas joy for the whole family to enjoy and an extremely talented cast.

Don’t see it if you expect a 100% faithful adaptation to the film but do not let this turn you off as it still leaves you feeling as good as the film does.
